About Baa Atoll

Baa Atoll was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2011 for its extraordinary marine biodiversity. Hanifaru Bay hosts the world's largest known gathering of manta rays — up to 200 individuals feeding in the bay during monsoon season (June-November). The atoll is also home to Soneva Fushi — the resort that pioneered the Maldives' barefoot luxury concept — and several other world-class properties. Reached by seaplane (30 min from MLE), Baa Atoll offers a more remote, nature-focused Maldives experience. The coral reefs are among the healthiest in the country.
