The Best Halal Catering in the Sky
Turkish Airlines has won Skytrax’s “Best Food and Beverage” award more times than any other airline — and the DXB-IST route showcases why. The 4h 50m flight time means just one main meal, but it’s a full hot service with multiple courses, a hot bread basket, and inflight desserts that genuinely come from Turkish patisserie traditions.
Three daily departures (TK761, TK765, TK771) give flexibility. The morning TK761 (09:00 dep, 12:50 arr) is the most popular for connecting onwards via Turkish’s massive IST hub network — over 300 onward destinations. The route is operated by Airbus A330 or A350 depending on the day.
The Aircraft Mix
TK uses A330-200/300 most days, and A350-900 on peak departures. Economy is 2-4-2 on the A330 (32-inch pitch) and 3-3-3 on the A350. The A350 has the wider cabin and quieter engines — request A350 at check-in if available, especially for the longer waits at IST.
The Service
Halal certified by default — all Turkish Airlines meals are halal across the global network. Hot meal includes a starter, main, dessert, plus the famous TK-branded fresh bread. Coffee is served with traditional Turkish lokum (Turkish delight) on the side. Wine list is strong — Anatolian wines especially showcase Turkey’s increasingly serious winemaking scene.
The Hub
Istanbul Airport (IST, opened 2018) is now Europe’s largest by passenger volume. Transit through IST is fast — under 60 minutes for connecting flights. Turkish’s hub-and-spoke model means you can reach over 300 onward cities (more than any other airline globally). If you have a 6+ hour layover, Turkish offers free city tours.
