The Umrah & Hajj Gateway
Saudia’s DXB-JED route is the most-flown corridor between Dubai and the holy cities. Multiple daily departures, generous Umrah-friendly baggage (40kg standard, vs. typical 30kg), and onboard prayer facilities make this the go-to flight for Umrah pilgrims, family visits, and business travelers heading to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast.
The 3h 5m flight is operated mostly on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner — quieter cabin, larger windows, better pressurization. Saudia has rapidly modernized its fleet over the past 5 years; the 787 is now the workhorse on Gulf routes.
Saudia for Umrah
For Umrah travelers, Saudia includes free additional baggage allowance — typically 40kg checked plus the carry-on, accommodating ihram clothing and Zamzam water (Saudia is one of few airlines that allows Zamzam in checked bags up to 5L). Onboard, prayer-time notifications display on the entertainment system, and the qibla direction is shown during the flight.
The Aircraft
787-9 Dreamliner with 2 classes — 24 Business in 1-2-1 reverse-herringbone lie-flat, and 254 Economy in 3-3-3 (32-inch pitch). Recent cabin refresh in 2023 added new seat covers and improved seatback IFE. Wi-Fi is available (paid) on most departures.
The Service
All meals 100% halal — no exceptions. No alcohol is served on Saudia flights (this is consistent with Saudi Arabian law). The meal service on this 3-hour flight is one hot breakfast or lunch, plus snacks. Saudia’s signature mint tea is served throughout.
The Arrival
Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz Airport has a dedicated Hajj/Umrah terminal that streamlines arrivals during pilgrimage seasons. Lavisa Inbox can arrange the JED to Mecca/Medina transfer including the special Hajj/Umrah documentation if needed.
